Kimbie Sprague

It’s hard to imagine someone as passionate about a library as Mrs. Sprague. When she isn’t holding classes or working behind the scenes in the TDS Library, she is polling students to hear about which books they like, curating book collections for teachers, and making sure everyone at TDS has access to the books they need!

Where were you on your teaching journey before joining us at TDS?
I was the assistant librarian at Forest View Elementary School in Durham for six years, and library volunteer for seven years before that (1,500+ hours of volunteering!) In my early career, I was a caseworker and advocate focused on issues of homelessness and safe and affordable housing.

What is your favorite thing about TDS so far?
Fostering a caring and supportive community.

Family and Pets?
Husband and three kids, two cats, and two bunnies.

Hobbies and Interests?
I love being outside and enjoy working in the yard and getting dirty. Listening to audiobooks is my favorite way to chill. I am always up for a craft project or a game of Scrabble! My goal is to go to all the National Parks and be a retiree volunteer traveling between parks and working in the visitor center meeting people from around the world.
