Triangle Day School had our first Crossroads meeting of the year last Friday! The event started with the highly anticipated sorting ceremony. Mrs. Wallace placed the sorting hat on every new student and faculty member’s head, then Mrs. Bassler cried out their placement as the newly-sorted member was ushered to their house by thunderous applause and a wave of high-fives. After the sorting ceremony, houses rushed off to begin their first Crossroads activity of the year.
Crossroads is one of our many community-building initiatives at TDS. The purpose of Crossroads is to foster relationships between older and younger students, which is why each Crossroads “house” is comprised of students representing each grade at TDS, as well as faculty members from all over the school. At every Crossroads meeting, older students guide younger students in team-building activities. The benefit of this initiative can be seen and felt throughout the school. We take enormous pride in watching our eighth graders holding doors open for Kindergarteners who are headed to lunch, seeing third graders and fifth graders playing basketball together during recess, and knowing that our first graders can feel comfortable asking a middle school teacher for help finding the front office. Crossroads is one of our most unique traditions at Triangle Day School – and it’s one of our most fun traditions, too!
