Kim Sanford has joined the middle school team as our 6th-grade math and science teacher, teaching 6th-Grade Math, Pre-Algebra, and Earth Science; she is also teaching a 7th and 8th-grade forensics elective.

Ms. Sanford has many years of experience in education and has filled many roles throughout her time as a teacher. She has been a teacher in special-education, math, a gifted-and-talented program, and an instructional coach for other teachers. She has worked with grades 4-12 and has training in specialties such as project-based learning and restorative practices.

Where were you on your teaching journey before joining us at TDS?
I was teaching 4th and 5th grade science and advanced math in a charter school in Cary.

What is your favorite thing about TDS so far?
How friendly and supportive everyone is.

Family and Pets?
I have three grown up children: two sons who are married and a daughter.

Hobbies and Interests?
Kayaking, reading, hiking, and traveling

Food: Homemade mac and cheese
Drink: Tea, coffee, water
Book: The Stand by Stephen King

Fun Fact:
I have a motorcycle license and used to own my own motorcycle.
