Laura Marty joined us this August as our TK-5 Instructional Assistant. When she is not being pulled as our “go-to” substitute teacher around campus, Ms. Marty runs reading groups, math groups, enrichment circles, writing conferences, OCL office hours, and much more! We are so grateful to have her positive spirit around our campus, and she is always ready to jump into any classroom to share her wonderful teaching skills with others. Read below to find out a little bit more about Laura in her own words.
Where were you on your teaching journey before joining us at TDS?
I just graduated from Duke (’20) with a degree in Psychology and a Minor and Certificate in Education. TDS is the beginning of my journey as a teacher!
What is your favorite thing about TDS so far?
My favorite thing about TDS is the students! I love when students share the stories they’re writing, the art they’re creating, or even the cool bug they found on the playground with me. It makes my day :)
Family and Pets?
I was born and raised in Seattle, WA, where my parents still live. I have one older brother who currently works as a computer software engineer. While I don’t have pets of my own, I do enjoy meeting all the dogs that come through the carline!
Hobbies and Interests?
I like to stay active through trail running and CrossFit workouts. I also enjoy spending afternoons with a good book and a cup of hot tea :)
