Student Treasures through Writing

Students in grades 1-5 have been working on creating their Student Treasures books. Student Treasures provides an activity that motivates students and makes writing fun. Students pride themselves on creating memories and cherished keepsakes through these one-of-a-kind hardbound books.

In 1^st and 2^nd grades, students contribute to a class book, while 3^rd-5^th graders create their own books. Each class chooses a different topic or theme. 1^st graders wrote about a special moment in their lives, while 2^nd graders were given the prompt: “I am a change maker…” Students in 3^rd grade created “A to Z, All About Me” books, while 4^th graders chose a story from their journals this year. Poetry is the theme for 5^th graders who are writing about 5^th grade memories. They have learned about many types of poems, from acrostics to limericks, and incorporated them into their books. All students also illustrate their writing. The Student Treasures program allows students to practice the writing process. They pre-write, draft, edit, revise, and illustrate work that is published. It will be exciting to see the final products in May.
