The 6th grade went to Duke’s campus to spend time on their Team Challenge Course. The weather was beautiful and spirits were high as students worked together to complete a course that was organized by Duke’s student organization, Project WILD (Wilderness Initiative for Learning at Duke).
Two of the more popular challenges were the “Porthole Escape,” wherein groups were expected to help each other to pass through a suspended tire, one person at a time, and the “Spider Web,” a vertical rope maze that requires all students get through, with each student using each opening once.
Overall, the day was a perfect way for 6th graders, who are new to Middle School, to get outdoors and learn new strategies for team building.
