Advisors build strong relationships with students and families, monitor academic progress through twice-monthly check-ins, and help students develop organization, self-advocacy, and executive functioning skills. Morning meetings include team-building activities, small-group discussions, and conversations about current events, helping students start each day grounded and connected.
Our advisory program focuses on service, character education, and community building. Through a structured social-emotional learning curriculum, students explore empathy, conflict resolution, healthy friendships, digital citizenship, and anti-bullying strategies. Lessons address important topics such as identity, inclusion, bias, and how to be an ally, while also guiding students in navigating texting, social media, and group communication responsibly.
Service-learning is a cornerstone of advisory and grows with students each year. Sixth graders collaborate on a grade-level project, such as designing a pollinator garden for campus. Seventh graders work in small groups to design projects connected to issues they care about, ranging from food insecurity and animal welfare to accessibility and child welfare. By eighth grade, students independently design and complete a service-learning project connected to their capstone project. Through these experiences, students develop leadership, initiative, and a sense of civic responsibility while making meaningful contributions to the broader community.
