Extending learning beyond school hours

In addition to our After-School Program, TDS has expanded enrichment options for those students interested in extending their learning beyond school hours.

Students enrolled in a club or extracurricular activity meet their instructor directly after school and have time for a snack before their program begins. After the activity ends, students can be picked up or transition to After-School Program care.

Meetings run from 3:15-4:15 PM and are organized by grade levels to ensure activities are age-appropriate and engaging. Most clubs and extracurriculars meet once a week for ten weeks (with exceptions for programs associated with outside organizations).

  • Grade Levels: 2nd-5th

Whether your child is new to chess or looking to refine their strategy, Triangle Chess offers structured lessons paired with friendly matches. Instructors guide students through the rules, basic tactics, and more advanced concepts like forks and pins. Weekly puzzles and mini-tournaments keep engagement high and help children track their progress. Chess Club builds critical-thinking skills, patience, and confidence—qualities that transfer to all areas of learning.

  • Grade Levels: TK-1st

Take your PreK–1st grader on a ten-week global dance tour—learn Bollywood steps, African rhythms, Latin salsa, and more. Sessions begin with a short story about each region’s culture, then break down basic movements through fun, age-appropriate routines. Props and music bring each style to life, and small group sharing builds social skills. By the finale, students perform a medley of dance moves from around the globe, celebrating their newfound cultural awareness.

  • Grade Levels: 1st-2nd

We are excited to partner with PathForge Learning to bring Lego Engineering to TDS. This club will build early engineering skills through creative Lego builds. Using special LEGO kits, students will construct moving parts, levers, and pulleys and more!

  • Grade Levels: 3rd-5th

If you register for this club, the only other Tuesday club you may register for is Chess.
Your budding scientist will join a team tackling hands-on STEM events like bottle-rocket launches, bridge-building, forensics labs, and ecology challenges. Small groups plan, design, test, and iterate solutions—mirroring real engineering and scientific processes. Instructors emphasize critical-thinking, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making.

  • Grade Levels: 5th-8th

Some describe it as chess with dragons…a game of strategy, creativity, and a lot of fun. In Magic The Gathering, players will take on the roles of powerful wizards, summoning creatures, casting spells, and wielding artifacts to outwit their opponents. It’s a great way to hone critical thinking and problem solving skills while using imagination to craft clever gameplans in friendly, casual matches.

  • Grade Levels: TK-K

Is your student a nature lover? Join Mr. B to explore our physical environment and experience science with exciting hands-on activities and fun outdoor lessons. Your student will learn about seasons, animal adaptations, deer and other local mammals, reptiles and amphibians, and more!

  • Grade Levels: TK-K

In this creative soccer program, TK/K students learn dribbling, passing, and shooting through imaginative games that keep them moving. Each session highlights a positive character trait —tying character development to sport. Qualified coaches ensure lessons are age-appropriate and supportive, emphasizing fun over competition. It’s a great way to build motor skills and confidence on the field.

TDS clubs change every semester; we typically bring back a few favorites while also making room for new adventures!
