Splish Splash Water Week (4-5)

* 3 Spaces Left *
Instructor: Kyara Kimber
Ages: 4-5
Session: August 5-9
Min/Max Enrollment: 6/13
Price: $270
It’s time to cool off! Splish Splash week has everything you need for fun in the sun. Get ready for water games, crafts, baking, and more! We’ll have water challenges each so don’t forget your water shoes, bathing suit, and a change of clothes for each day. Let’s splish and splash our way to the end of summer!

Kyara Kimber has been part of the TDS community for three years as an after school counselor. A resident of Mebane, she is studying Criminal Justice and will be attending North Carolina Central University to further her degree this summer. Her goal is to share her passion and become a Criminal Justice professor. In her spare time Kyara likes to sing, play guitar, and help at risk youth in her community. She is eager to expand her role at TDS leading several camps this summer.

A Beachy Time (5-7)

* 2 Spaces Left *
Instructor: Rose Vigil
Ages: 5-7
Session: August 5-9
Min/Max Enrollment: 6/14
Price: $270
This week we’ll cruise to the imaginary beach where building sandcastles, jumping over waves, and, of course, hunting for seashells bring happiness! We may even venture to one of our local lakes (campers will be allowed to wade in shallow areas only). We may even throw a luau at the end of the week, to wrap up our beach week! Come have a beachy time with Rose and the gang.

Rose, one of our returning summer teachers, is a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill where she studied political science and music with the intention of teaching social studies in North Carolina. Currently, she teaches civics and government classes to upper elementary students. Rose truly enjoys working with this age group and helping them develop their creative thinking skills in the classroom. Rose’s calm, warm nature and passion for teaching gives her students a fun, inviting, and relaxing learning experience and environment. In her free time, Rose loves arts and crafts, creating with clay, and reading.

Hogwarts Hoopla! (7-10)

Instructor: Natalie Ditmore
Ages: 7-10
Session: August 5-9
Min/Max Enrollment: 6/14
Price: $270
Join us for a week of Harry Potter fun full of crafts, activities (did someone say wand-making?), trivia, indoor/outdoor games, and friendly house competition. Any level of interest in the series is welcomed, and you don’t need to be a Harry Potter expert to join us in our adventures!

Mrs. Ditmore is a third grade teacher at TDS and an avid Harry Potter fan. While she’ll always prefer books over movies, aspects of both the Harry Potter films and books will be included in our week of fun. Having read the series four times through (and working on a fifth!), she has tons of fun ideas and tricks up her sleeve. A proud Hufflepuff, she loves focusing on the positive aspects of all four houses. Her favorite Harry Potter characters are Neville, Hagrid, Luna, and McGonagall. When she isn’t delving deep into the world of Harry Potter, she loves reading other books, hiking, traveling, cooking, watching hockey, and spending time with her family.

Woods & River Raiders (8-12)

 * 2 Spaces Left *
Instructor: Morgan Whithaus
Ages: 8-12
Session: August 5-9
Min/Max Enrollment: 6/14
Price: $270
Woods & River Raiders provides a gentle yet adventurous experience for budding outdoor explorers. We will spend most of our time at the Eno River, local trails, or nearby lakes, allowing us to experience the wilderness without being fully immersed in the back-country. In addition to developing skills like building a shelter, wildlife tracking, and basic wilderness first-aid, we will learn to become more self-reliant. Join us on our final outdoor excursion of the summer!

*2Morgan Whithaus will be graduating from Meredith College with a degree in elementary education and Spanish. While in high school and college, Morgan served as a summer counselor for various camps, and was a Girl Scout since the age of five. During her time in Girl Scouts, Morgan earned the Girl Scout Gold Award and took advantage of many opportunities to develop leadership skills and experience. She is looking forward to taking her students on outdoor expeditions throughout the Triangle.
