We’re so glad that Ms. Hill has joined our team this year in TK! Her warm and loving presence is so appreciated, especially as our TK and K students arrive each morning. She is always there to greet them by name with a smile, making sure everyone feels welcome. She is very dedicated to all of her students, and has been a wonderful addition to our TDS community! Find out a little more about her in her own words below.

Where were you on your teaching journey before joining us at TDS?
When I first moved to Chapel Hill from Buffalo, NY, I was working at a Goddard School. But, prior to that, I was working with a Refugee Agency teaching English as a Second Language, TEFL Prep, and GED courses to the immigrant and refugee population in Buffalo, NY.

What is your favorite thing about TDS so far?
It has been pretty special working on the same campus that my daughter, Adela, attends 4th grade, so that is one of my favorite things about TDS. But, aside from that, I love the sense of community that I have found here; it is apparent that each voice is heard, appreciated and taken to heart.

Family and Pets?
My daughter and I have a Tibetan Spaniel named Sophie.

Hobbies and Interests?
I enjoy anything active and outdoors – hiking, mountain biking, trail running, exploring historic areas wherever we happen to be traveling. If I’m not doing that, I’m trying out new recipes or making my family’s traditional ones in the kitchen – usually listening to an audio book or podcast while I do!

Favorites?
Food: Chana Masala, Shrimp tacos with homemade Guacamole, and Chicken Wings from Barbill Tavern outside Buffalo, NY when I visit home
Drink: Coffee and Chai
Movie: The Newsies, Amelie, Hugo
Book: It’s hard to pick just one! But, I’ll try – My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry (Backman), Jane Eyre, and Where the Crawdads Sing
