Our Back to School days have been filled with all things new: new students, new books, new classes, and new teachers. This year, Danielle Cosgrave has joined our upper elementary team, bringing her patience, organization, and teaching talents to guide her fourth graders. We are so fortunate to have her as a part of the TDS family. You can learn more about Mrs. Cosgrave in her own words below.

What is your previous teaching experience?
I student taught fourth grade in my last year of college. After graduation, I moved to Largo, Maryland, where I taught first and second grade in a multi-grade classroom at Divine Peace Lutheran School for two years. In 2016, I moved to Northern Virginia and taught first and second grade for two and a half years at BASIS Independent McLean.

What attracted you to Triangle Day School?
I was attracted to Triangle Day School because of the warm and nurturing environment of the school. As a teacher, I believe that the academic, social, and emotional development of a child are equally important, and it became apparent very quickly that Triangle Day School has the same values in its school culture.

What do you like about TDS?
I like the strong community aspect of the school. Everyone has been incredibly friendly and welcoming so far at TDS, so I am excited to work with and get to know all of the teachers, staff, students, and their families. I also appreciate the balance between teacher autonomy and teacher collaboration. I am excited to have the space to get to know my students and design my instruction around them as well as having the support and advice from other teachers.

Family and Pets?
My husband Matt and I have been married for two years, and we have a sweet Havananese dog named Ruby.

Hobbies and Interests?
During my free time, I like to travel to new places, read, garden, and play the piano.

Favorites?

Children’s Book: The Story of Ferdinand

Hopes and Dreams?
My hopes and dreams as a teacher are to impact each and every one of my students to love learning and to be confident in themselves. I believe that children are our future, and I would love to have a positive impact on their lives, however big or small.
My personal hopes and dreams are to travel the world and enjoy each and every day that I am given!
