Monthly assemblies at Triangle Day School are interactive, exciting, and entertaining!  It’s an opportunity for the entire student body, faculty, and invited parents to come together and celebrate the students.  While every assembly is unique in its “main event”, the format of each is the same; the students run the show.

Student Council officers start the Pledge of Allegiance, make announcements, and present monthly Core-Value Awards to their Middle School Peers.  Prior to the assembly, faculty vote on which students they believe epitomize at least one of the TDS core values for that month.  Those values are Respect, Responsibility, Compassion, Integrity, and Resilience.

Next, “Talented Tornados” (because our mascot is a tornado) in each of grades TK through 5 receive certificates while their teachers call them to the stage and share unique characteristics of each child that demonstrate at least one TDS core value.

The main event takes place next!  Examples of some monthly performances include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assembly PicSkits performed by Middle Schoolers for the Lower Schoolers to enjoy
  • Talent Show
  • Pep Rally followed by a faculty vs. students volleyball game or basketball game
  • Thanksgiving Play performed by Lower Schoolers
  • Winter Sing
  • Career Day activities
  • International Festival
  • Pi Day
  • Jump Rope for Heart
  • Local University Acapella Group

In addition, let us not forget our Purple vs. Gold color war that goes on all year!  When a student enrolls at TDS, they are welcomed onto the Purple or Gold team for their entire TDS journey.  Students and faculty alike have opportunities to earn points for their team.  Our latest event had students catching volleyballs in oversized pants while a team member kept serving them.  The gold team took that one by a landslide.  :-)
