We have a few essential steps to the application process to help us better understand your student’s special abilities and potential.
- Submit an Application: Start the journey by filling out our online application form.
- Teacher Recommendation: You will need to provide one teacher’s name and email address as part of your application. A questionnaire will be automatically sent to the identified teacher to gather their insights.
- Diagnostic or Psychological Evaluation Results: If applicable, include these results in your application packet.
- Student Assessment: Schedule and have your child participate in our student assessment. It’s a required step, offering us a glimpse into their unique abilities and skills. A link to schedule this assessment will be available once you submit an application.
- Financial Assistance: If you’re applying for financial assistance, please complete a Clarity Application.

- Recent Report Card: Include your student’s most recent report card as part of the application materials.
- Standardized Test Results: If available, submit results from any standardized test that your child has taken.
- Diagnostic or Psychological Evaluation Results: If applicable, include these results in your application packet.
- Student Visitation Day & Assessment: Register for and have your child attend one of our Student Visitation Days, where they will get to join a class in action! It’s a required step, offering us a glimpse into their unique abilities and skills. A link to register for a Visitation Day will be available once you submit an application.
- 1st & 2nd Grade Visitation Days include a Student Assessment at TDS.
- 3rd & 4th Grade Visitation Days include a Student Assessment at TDS, unless you plan to have your student complete the ISEE. You will be contacted to confirm your preference after your student’s Visitation Day is scheduled.
- 5th Grade Visitation Days do not include a Student Assessment at TDS. Instead, 5th-grade applicants are asked to complete the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) which measures verbal and quantitative ability, mathematics skills, reading comprehension, and writing skills.
- Financial Assistance: If you’re applying for financial assistance, please complete a Clarity Application.

You will only need the teachers’ names and email addresses to submit with your application. A questionnaire will be automatically sent to each teacher to gather their insights.

- Standardized Test Results: If available, submit results from any standardized test that your child has taken.
- Diagnostic or Psychological Evaluation Results: If applicable, include these results in your application packet.
- Student Visitation Day & Assessment:

Remember, these requirements are crucial and help us create a comprehensive understanding of each child’s unique abilities, strengths, and needs.
Please note that a non-refundable application fee of $80 will be due upon submission of an application.
We understand that different families have various financial capacities, and if this payment poses a financial challenge for you, do not hesitate to reach out to our Enrollment Office. We’re here to discuss options and help ensure that financial constraints do not deter any child’s opportunity to apply and potentially join our school.

These notification dates are used by all schools in the Triangle Independent School Consortium (TISC), and apply to families who complete an application by January 19th, 2024. Applications received after this date will be considered on a rolling basis.
